lets start at the beginning, the organisation of the gates and stuff was super bad,it took us an hour extra than we had anticipated just to get in making us miss the first two bands sahara hotnights and vex red, after that though the day just kept getting better. im gonna give the bands marks out of 5-5 being the best-1 being the worst
first up we saw andrew wk (2) who turned in a rather poor performance which was only made better by the fact that he was crazy,he was always beating the hell out of himself whether he was punching himself in the head or leg,and if he wasnt beating himself up he was dancing like a mad man or pulling up a random person from the crowd to sit on his shoulders
next it was straight to the evening session stage for goldfinger (4) who played an absolutely blinding set, getting the moshpit really going with favourites such as open your eyes and superman a brilliant set if a little short
then it was back to the main stage to see the last half of A (3) who were actually pretty good live playing crowd pleasers such as starbucks and nothing and also a brilliant rendition of shut yer face
after that we got less than jake (4) who played an amazing three quarters of an hour including old favourites like all my best friendsare metalheads, and newer ones like gainesville rock city, less than jake also prompted the crowd to make the biggest circle pit in the history of circle pits all the way round the screen in the middle of the arena with people running from all directions and even out of the moshpit to join in
the hives (5) what can i say?an amazing live show all the way through howlin' pelle is a man of many talents with hilariously funny comments being one of them."i dont care if you bought this single or not"declared pelle"for i am independantly wealthy" easily the best song of the set was die alright which really took the pit to amazing levels of mentality
next came sum 41 (3)who really didnt deserve to be above the hives on the bill, hardly no funny comments at all and all in all not one of their best performances though songs like makes no difference and in too deep enhanced the experience and took the moshpit to new levels
ash (5) were next up and they were perfect the sounds were loud and in your face, and the pit really went wild for songs such as envy(which may i say produced my best crowd surf of the whole day)and even the slower songs such as shining light but they brought their show to a close with burn baby burn which once again took the moshpit to the highest level of the day
next i took off after muses first song to see jimmy eat world (4) on the evening session stage they were great playing songs such as salt, sweat, sugar but my jimmy eat world experience was cut short by my desire to see the headliners of the day
the foo fighters (4 almost a 5) who werent really the headliners everyone was expecting they turned out a few good songs though one example being break out which really got the pit going, but their new material was met with a mixed reaction from the moshpit-i could see some people standing stony faced not really knowing not to think and other people going mental enthusiastically but what really made them great was Dave Grohl applying himself enthusiastically to his position as the frontman of the headlining band which he did well whether it was running round being crazy and hiding behind billboards, playing amazing guitar solos or just taking the mick out of random people from the crowd
there is just one last thing, the organisational point of getting everyone out was once again atrocious with all the exits being blocked off and the only way out being the main entrance, the organisation of getting in and out was the only thing that marred an amazing experience.
